Recruiting

  • From Texas Nationals to Collegiate Student-Athlete
    • Texas Nationals Directors and Coordinators are a recruiting resource. Directors and Coordinators assist our student-athletes in understanding the recruiting timeline, current NCAA regulations, and the student athlete’s steps in navigating the process. Texas Nationals Directors are available to meet with student-athletes to discuss the recruiting process and provide guidance through their college searches.
  • Student-Athlete Recruiting Process To-Do List
    • Despite a lack of communication between college coach and prospect prior to September 1st of junior year, there is still much to be done for the recruiting process! Don’t worry about what school, if any, is interested in you…focus on your athletic and academic development. As is pertains to the recruiting process, here are your to-dos:
      • DO RESEARCH
        • There is more information online than ever! Prospects should use the internet to research schools, academic programs, and athletic programs in order to start to formulate an idea of what they want out of their college experience.
      • VISIT CAMPUS
        • While prospects cannot meet with their college coaches until junior year, we highly encourage prospects to tour campuses and take the guided admissions tours in order to learn more about the schools they have interest in.
      • STAY IN TOUCH
        • Prospects can be proactive in expressing their interest by continuing to write and send college coaches information about their academics and athletic endeavors. Keep in mind that college coaches cannot ask for this information from prospects until junior year (i.e. academic transcripts, standardized test scores, camp/tournament schedules) so staying updated with email communication and filling out online questionnaires will be very helpful to college coaches. In addition, prior to junior year, colleges coaches are unable to respond directly to your communication to them.
      • GO TO CAMPS/CLINICS
        • College coaches value the opportunity to work with/coach and get to know prospects at their camps. It gives college coach staffs a different perspective on players that they don’t get from sitting on the sideline and watching them play in a tournament.
      • GO SEE THE COLLEGE TEAMS PLAY
        • Prospects are encouraged to go and watch college teams play at home or on the road! This should provide you with an opportunity to evaluate the talent level of teams playing, the style of play and the coaches’ demeanor on the sideline and the involvement of the players on the sideline.
